Building Bridges
Through Bluegrass

At The Bluegrass Journeymen Academy, we are committed to expanding the global reach of bluegrass music by fostering meaningful cross-cultural exchange through education, collaboration, and performance.

We support and engage with schools, music programs, and musicians around the world, offering resources, outreach, and opportunities to learn and grow together through music.

Rooted in the belief that music is a universal language, we strive to build lasting connections that transcend borders, languages, and societal divides—bringing people together through the shared power of sound and story.

We started this project over 9 years ago and we are proud to share that we’ve recently been granted 501(c)(3) nonprofit status. We are eager to explore opportunities to partner with communities, schools, businesses and other partners to bring our music programming to more audiences globally.

Triyog High School After School Music Program

In 2025 we’ve partnered with Triyog High Schooling Kathmandu, Nepal to launch an ongoing after-school music program. This initiative provides instruction in banjo, mandolin, guitar, and violin to over 40 students, teachers, and administrators currently, with plans to expand. This is our biggest project at the moment and our spring/summer session is underway and going well!

Our program in Nepal is an 8-week after-school music initiative offered multiple times throughout the year, aimed at providing both students and educators with a comprehensive introduction to bluegrass music. Student classes are held Monday through Thursday from 3:30 to 5:30 PM, while Fridays are reserved for a dedicated session with teachers and school administrators, fostering professional development and long-term program sustainability.

The program includes instruction in four core instruments—banjo, mandolin, violin, and guitar—with class sizes limited to 10 students per instrument to ensure personalized attention. In addition to individual instrument instruction, students participate in ensemble work and vocal practice, fostering both technical skills and collaborative musicianship.

The Bluegrass Journeymen Academy provides skilled instructors and all necessary instruments and supplies, making music education accessible and engaging for every participant. Each 8-week session concludes with a celebratory performance and certificate ceremony, where students showcase their growth and share their music with the community. These events highlight not only individual achievement, but also the power of cultural exchange, creative expression, and connection through bluegrass music.
